Many examples are from linear algebra. I think this book would get a student well on there way to a healthy knowledge of group theory. After completion of this book I think you would feel ready to go on to study abstract algebras in general and on to the study of universal algebra. Every time I’ve taught the course (undergraduate), I’ve been saddled with someone else’s choice of text. And they’ve generally been isomorphic (the same) and not particularly inspiring. So I’m going with speculation here - in terms of what I think.
Linear Algebra and Group Theory for Physicists Professor Srinivasa Rao's text on Linear Algebra and Group Theory is directed to undergraduate and graduate students who wish to acquire a solid theoretical foundation in these mathematical topics whi. I collect some books below. Graphs and Matrices by Bapat (as pointed out by Josse). Section of Graph Theory: Springer Graduate Text GTM By Reinhard Diestel covers linear algebra on graphs (, P). Section of Graph Theory and Its Applications, Second Edition By Jonathan L. Gross, Jay Yellen (, p) covers, similarly.. Handbook of Graph Theory (), 2nd Edition by Gross.
This contains the basic abstract theory of Linear algebra. It includes a discussion of general fields of scalars, spectral theory, canonical forms, applications to Markov processes, and inner product spaces. Click here to download the additional book files/5(15). This popular and successful text was originally written for a one-semester course in linear algebra at the sophomore undergraduate level. Consequently, the book deals almost exclusively with real finite dimensional vector spaces, but in a setting and formulation that permits easy generalisation to abstract vector spaces. A wide selection of examples of vector spaces and linear transformation.

The second part provides a simple but complete treatment of matrix theory, covering covariance, contravariance, tensor algebra, eigenvalues, infinite-dimensional spaces, and reduction of matrices to canonical forms.
The final section introduces various ideas of group theory, with particular emphasis on rotation and Lorentz by: This textbook demonstrates the strong interconnections between linear algebra and group theory by presenting them simultaneously, a pedagogical strategy ideal for an interdisciplinary audience.
Being approached together at the same time, these two topics complete one another, allowing students to attain a deeper understanding of both : Birkhäuser Basel.

“This is an introductory text on linear algebra and group theory from a geometric viewpoint. The topics, largely standard, are presented in brief, well-organized one- and two-page subsections written in clear, if rather pedestrian, language, with detailed examples.” (R.
Brand: Springer-Verlag New York. For group theory, you may try Gallian's Contemporary abstract algebra. In this book the author splits group theory into $11$ chapters with good examples and exercises. I also mention Gallian web page, it contains lot of sources for abstract algebra.
